Chief Investment Officer

John Clark

Chief Executive Officer & Portfolio Manager

John Clark is the CEO and founder of JCClark and is the Portfolio Manager of our flagship fund, the Preservation Trust. John received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University in 1963. He is the co-founder of two well known Canadian predecessor firms, Connor, Clark & Co. (1977) and Connor Clark & Lunn (1982). John served as Chairman of the Toronto Stock Exchange from 1995 to 1997 and held positions on numerous other Boards throughout his career, including The Empire Company & Arbor Memorial. He currently serves as a member of the Board of the Toronto Rehab Centre. John has successfully managed money for over 40 years, across a wide variety of economic and market environments.

Colin Stewart

Portfolio Manager

Colin Stewart is a founding shareholder of JCClark and acts as a Director and Portfolio Manager at the firm. He has day-to-day responsibility for the firm’s investment team and also serves as the Portfolio Manager for the Focused Opportunities Fund. Prior to launching the Focused Opportunities Fund in June 2005, Colin acted as co-manager of the Preservation Trust. Colin received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1998 and is a CFA charterholder (2001). Colin started his career in the Corporate Finance division of CIBC World markets and then joined Connor Clark & Co. where he worked alongside John Clark as a Research Analyst. Colin currently serves as Co-Chair for the AIMA Canada Education and Research Committee.

Alex Davidson

Portfolio Manager

Alex Davidson is the Portfolio Manager of the Commonwealth Patriot Trust and also serves as a senior member of the investment team. Alex joined the firm in 2003 and is responsible for managing the firm’s long-bias value fund. Alex received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor in 1966 and an MBA from McMaster University in 1967. Prior to joining JCClark, he owned and operated several businesses in the manufacturing and resource sectors for over thirty years. Alex is heavily involved in onsite company due diligence and management interviews of potential investment candidates. Alex currently serves as a Director and Treasurer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and a Director of the Georgian Bay Association.

John Dynes

Portfolio Manager

John Dynes is a Portfolio Manager at JCClark and focuses his time on research and analysis of investment ideas that are used for the firm’s three core strategies. Mr. Dynes joined JCClark in 2003 as a Research Analyst. John received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2003 and is a CFA charterholder (2006). He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course (2000), the Derivatives Fundamentals Course (2002) and the Trader Training Course (2005).

Veeral Khatri

Research Analyst

Veeral Khatri is a Research Analyst at the firm and is involved in researching a variety of companies and industries, and constructing financial models. Mr. Khatri joined the firm in 2006. Veeral received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2006 and has also completed the Canadian Securities Course (2004) and the Trader Training Course (2006).

Andrew Parks

Research Analyst & Trader

Andrew Parks is a Research Analyst & Trader and has day-to-day responsibility for trading execution at JCClark. He also conducts equity research across a wide variety of industry groups. After serving as an intern over several University co-op terms, Mr. Parks joined the firm full-time in 2008.  Mr. Parks received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2008.  In addition, Andrew has completed the Canadian Securities Course (2005) and the Derivatives Fundamentals Course (2007).

Dick Innes

Investment Consultant

Dick Innes is an advisor to JCClark with primary focus on the funeral and cemetery industry. Mr. Innes was President and CEO of Arbor Memorial Services Inc. from 1997 to 2007. Arbor is a TSX-listed company that owns 41 cemeteries and 88 funeral homes across Canada. During his 10 years at Arbor, the company’s revenues and earnings increased significantly and the company solidified its industry-leading position. Previous experience includes senior management positions with Ault Foods, Catelli, Nabisco, Playtex and Procter and Gamble. Dick is an Honours Business Administration graduate of the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Mr. Innes is a member of the Board of Directors of General Nutrition Centers Inc. a Pittsburgh based company with over 6,000 retail outlets worldwide.
